(Amnesia, #2)
Publication date: August 18th 2017
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense
There’s freedom in remembering.
My past is a double-edged sword.
Damned if I do remember, damned if I don’t.
Remembering beyond the horrors I already have will change me. Change us.
But, what if I’m living a lie? What if everything I thought was wrong, what if who I thought I was is wrong?
If not her, then…
Who am I?
Eddie says it doesn’t matter, but deep down I’m terrified it does.
I’m trapped. Held prisoner by a past I can’t remember and a future that might not belong to me.
There’s a light though, not at the end of the tunnel… But wavering in the distance, calling to me from Rumor Island.
That light, it scares me far more than darkness. Am I brave enough to confront it?
So many questions, so few answers.
I don’t have a choice; the truth always finds a way to the surface. Finally learning who I really am will be a permanent life sentence:
Total punishment or absolute amnesty.

No Ordinary Star by M.C. Frank **Review**

A soldier is summoned to the North Pole, days before the year changes, told to fix the great Clock for a celebration. He has no idea what to do.
A girl, hunted for the crime of being born, almost dies out on the ice. She is rescued by the last polar bear left alive.
A library waits for them both, a library built over a span of a hundred years, forgotten in the basement of an ice shack.
The world hasn't known hunger or sickness in hundreds of years. It has also forgotten love and beauty.
The year is 2525.

Inspired by the short stories of Ray Bradbury, this futuristic novel is set in a world where Christmas -among other things- is obsolete and a Clock is what keeps the fragile balance of peace.

Written in three installments, this is the breathtaking and sensual story of how two unlikely people change the world, and each other, one book at a time.

Immerse yourself into the icy cold world of this scorching hot new novel.

4 "The Tin Soldier & The Match Girl" stars

It's year 2525. The world has changed. Women and men don't live together. People get to live longer and they get fed with pills. Everything is different. So when a soldier goes to the North Pole, he saves a girl and they both try to survive under difficult circumstances. They make together some discoveries and it seems that these are about to change their world forever.

I haven't read a dystopian book in a very long time and even though I'm not used in sci-fi books, I definitely enjoyed this one. My main issue with these books/movies/stories is that I can't understand well the world that they create and always need a good repeat for me to understand it. I think in a series the first book has that goal, to explain the world they create so the reader can feel himself into that world and I think this author succeeded in that.

"The stars haven't been visable from Earth in decades."
"Oh they have been," she says. "If you know where to look. When you see a formation that's irregular, a star that doesn't look ordinary- that's a real star and no satelite."
He sighs. No ordinary star. What does that even mean?

I understood the new world she created, even though it wasn't the most pleasant for us women. But maybe that was what made me passionate about this book. How my emotions felt for these characters, both the girl and the boy. How unfair was this world, even though many of our current problems were gone, new ones had replaced them. I loved how well woven was that universe and how well explained were the changes that the world in this dystopian world had suffered. I am definitely intrigued to explore this world even further.

I would definitely recommend this book to the fantasy/dystopian fans. I am so curious to get to know these characters better, because there's definitely a lot of mystery around them. And I hope the romance will only grow stronger in the next one. What can I say, I'm a romance junkie ;)

PS: The only reason I don't rate this with 5 stars is because in a series I always want to compare them between them to see which one I like better. I think I'm going to love the next ones even more, therefore my rating. Don't let this discourange you =)

STARR FALL by Kim Briggs **Review**

On the run from the Organization, Starr never planned on falling in love.

Starr Bishop’s the complete package. A perfect smile, brains to match, and a winning attitude. Boys want to date her and girls want to be her. She’s the type of girl you want to hate, if only she wasn’t so damn likable. But don’t worry, she’s not interested in your boyfriend. Boys are one complication she can live without.

When the Organization decides she’s not only the model student but the ideal assassin, Starr’ll need a lot more than high test scores and extracurricular involvement to get herself out of that commitment.

Dark, moody, and dead sexy Christian Evergood is the last person she’d expect—or even want— to come to her rescue. From opposite ends of Webster High’s social hierarchy, their lives collide in one electrifying moment. Christian isn’t the Goth loner he pretends to be, he’s a part Cherokee, All-American boy who wants to be a hero, Starr’s hero. Christian makes Starr forget that the Organization is after her, but nothing will stop the Organization from collecting their top recruit.

By the way, the spot for junior class president just became available.

What People Are Saying About Starr Fall....
"I was swept up in Kim Briggs' whirlwind of secrets, swoon, and adventure from page one. Beautifully writing combined with a smart, driven protagonist made this a book I couldn't put down.” —Isabel Bandeira, Author of Bookishly Ever After (Jan 2016) and Dramatically Ever After (June 2017)

As the opener in what promises to be a thrilling series, Starr Fall hits the ground running and hits the water swimming. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as Starr went from a super-achieving but otherwise pretty normal high school junior to a girl on the run from a shady, powerful government (maybe) agency and a deep, dark conspiracy we only see in glimpses. And why has the weird kid from school suddenly become her ultra-hot sidekick, with a connection between them that literally gives off sparks? He’s a lot more than he seems. Every answer raises another question as the reader ricochets between the threat level outside the remote cabin and the heat level inside it. Briggs knows how to crank up both kinds of tension, in the best possible way. Book two can’t come soon enough for this reader! -- Liz Coley, author of the award winning, internationally best-selling Pretty Girl-13

4 STARRS

Starr is just a student who hopes to pass in the leadership exam, but her entire life changes when the Organization decides that she's the perfect person to recruit as assassin. Starr will do anything possible to escape this cruel destiny and Christian, her moody classmate will be on her side in this journey.

Meanwhile, apart from the Organization, the heroine will have to face with more obstacles and she will need to take serious decisions that will affect not only her, but those around her. With a different Christian than she was used to at school, feelings will surface and these decisions will affect them more than she ever thought.

I’m supposed to go to college. I’m supposed to go into politics someday. That’s the plan. Not this.

I have to admit that what draw me into this book initially was the cover. I mean it's gorgeous, right? But because I have been burnt by pretty covers, I also read the synopsis before I decided that I indeed wanted to read this one. Thankfully, it was a wise decision, because this is a great story, with really interesting characters and a fascinating plot! This book makes you crave for more and it's seriously addicting.

I did have a few issues, like the hero and the heroine who seemed at the first chapters of the book entirely different characters than the continuation. They both seemed like intense characters, I thought the heroine would be a spoiled brat and the hero a moody, broody one. Well, surprise me colour, but they turned out to be entirely different afterwards and it's not just a matter of progress, because I would accept this easier, it just seemed like a very sudden change to me. And I'm still having a serious question about a scene, where it seems like a loophole or just unexplainable, but I'm hoping that it will be answered somehow in the next books of the series. It may be minor, but it irks me, because I need to know how this happened.

The Organization is after me, and clearly, they aren’t afraid to kill people to get to me, but I can’t get Christian out of my head.

Other than that, I really liked the author's writing, the scenery that was described in the book, the suspense, the mystery and I definitely need more. Looking forward to reading the next books and finding out how this story continues!

Hell Hath No Fury by Anabelle Anders

To keep the money, he has to keep her as well…

Cecily Nottingham has made a huge mistake.

The marriage bed was still warm when the earl she thought she loved crawled out of it and announced that he loved someone else.

Loves. Someone else.

All he saw in Cecily was her dowry.

But he’s in for the shock of his life, because in order to keep the money, he has to keep her.

With nothing to lose, Cecily sets out to seduce her husband’s cousin, Stephen Nottingham, in an attempt to goad the earl into divorcing her. Little does she realize that Stephen would turn out to be everything her husband was not: Honorable, loyal, trustworthy…

Handsome as sin.

Stephen only returned to England for one reason—save his cousin’s estate from financial ruin. Instead, he finds himself face to face with his cousins beautiful and scorned wife.

Only now that he's home, he isn’t sure what to do first, strangle his cousin, or kiss his wife.

His honor is about to be questioned, right along with his self-control.

Amid snakes, duels and a good catfight, Cecily realizes the game she’s playing has high stakes indeed.

There are only a few ways for a marriage to end in Regency England and none of them come without a high price. Is she willing to pay it? Is Stephen?

A ‘Happily Ever After’ hangs in the balance, because, yes, love can conquer all, but sometimes it needs a little bit of help.

The Unrequited by Saffron A. Kent **Release Blitz & ARC Review**

Title: The Unrequited
Author: Saffron A. Kent
Genre: Contemporary/Erotic Romance
Release Date: July 13, 2017

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it’s time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling.

What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one—only he is the new poetry professor—the married poetry professor.

Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist—rude, arrogant, and broody—but his glares and taunts don’t scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.

Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

NOTE: Please be aware that this book deals with sensitive topics like cheating and death. 18+ Only.

Excerpt

I’m hit by a storm of desire to kiss him better. It’s a tornado, an avalanche in my body, and in one breathless moment, I decide to go for it. It’s okay. I can take the blame for it later.
I break the rules and reach up and kiss him. A feathery peck on his plump lips, it’s a kiss of solidarity, a kiss that intends to tell him I understand—but one isn’t enough. It only manages to ratchet up my lust. So I give him another, this time on the corner of his mouth, and then another one on his jaw.
It’s not enough, these small, barely-there touches. I want more, but I won’t take it. I’ll be good; I’ll only give.
Abruptly, he fists my curls and stops me. I look at him fearfully, ready to apologize—not for the kiss, but for being the kisser. His gaze reflects passion, stark, raving need, and I shiver, despite wearing layers and sweating with his heat.
“Are you trying to kiss me, Layla?” he rasps, flexing his fingers on my makeshift ponytail.
He couldn’t tell? Blush rises to the surface and I know I’m glowing like a neon sign. Swallowing, I nod. “Yes.”
He inches closer to me, still not touching—as impossible as that is—but infinitely closer. “You want to kiss me, Miss Robinson, you do it right.”
Oh God, does he have to call me that? Now, here? My spine arches on its own and my heavy tits graze the contours of his shuddering chest.
“H-How?” I ask innocently, belying the daring action of my body. His stern, professor-y voice is doing things to me, making me wild, uncontrolled.
For a second, he’s silent, just watching. I’m afraid he’ll back out from whatever this is, whatever insanity we’re about to commit—but then I sense the shift in the liquor-laced air as he opens his mouth and growls, “Like this.”

Author Bio

Writer of bad romances. Coffee Addict. White Russian Drinker. Imaginary Ballet Dancer and poetess. Aspiring Lana Del Ray of the book world.

I'm a big believer in love (obviously). I believe in happily ever after, the butterflies and the tingling. But I also believe in edgy, rough and gutsy kind of love. I believe in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love I write about is flawed just like my characters. And I hope by the end of it, you'll come to root for them just as much as me. Because love, no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

4 UNREQUITED STARS

"Unrequited love and insomnia are longtime friends of mine."

Layla Robinson is a new student and somehow she finds her way following a handsome and mysterious man. That man walks into a classroom in her campus and she finds herself amongst his students. Professor Abrams is definitely a tough one, an asshole and a challenge to her. But it seems that he also took notice of her.

Layla soon discovers that her professor is not only young and handsome, but also a married man and father. Something that will complicate things when they will get to know each other better. She will reveal to him her secrets and in turn they will try to help each other out.

"I want him because he's like me. He's in unrequited love and I want to save him, somehow."

Even though I had a few issues and I didn't always agree with the characters and their actions, I really enjoyed the writing of the author. This was my first book written by Saffron and it definitely intrigued me to read more by her.

To be completely honest I felt like I needed more romance in this story. I get that it's an erotic one and I like the bad heroes, but Thomas was constantly an asshole to her. Maybe I expected a steady progess in his character and I didn't see it happen, or maybe I was in a more lovey-dovey phase and that's why I wasn't 100% satisfied on this part.

"He is like my personal moon- unattainable, to be admired from afar. He is my cancer, slowly killing me, and I don't even mind."

Nonetheless, I loved the poetry, the dialogues, the characters and the scenery. It really felt like I was in the campus with them. I loved the little details, the secondary characters, I definitely rooted for her friends. I also enjoyed the plot twists and the little surprises here and there were definitely thumbs up during my reading experience.

If you need a hot and steamy student-professor romance, you need to pick this up :)

The Long Way Home - about book

TheLongWayHome

I need you, Ava.

I am desperate. For you. For a touch. For a kiss. For the scrape of your hand down my stomach. For the slide of your lips across my hipbone. The sweep of your thigh against mine in the dulcet, drowning darkness. For the warm huff of your breath on my skin and the wet suck of your mouth around me and the building pressure of need reaching release...I am mad with need.

Wild with it.

I cannot have you. I have lost you, as I have lost myself.

And so I go in search. Of myself, and thus the man who might return to you, and take you in his arms.

I loathe each of the thousands of miles between us, but I cannot wish them away, for I hope at the end of my journey I shall find you. Or rather, find myself, and thus…you. Myself, and thus us.

I am taking the long way home, Ava.

***

Christian,

I’m losing my mind, and I don’t know how to stop it. I shouldn’t be writing to you, but I am. I’m friendless, loveless, and lifeless. You’re out there somewhere, and still you’re all I really have. I hate my reliance and dependence on you, emotionally and otherwise, and that reliance is something I’m coming to recognize. I hate that I can’t hate you as much as I want to. I hate that I still love you so much.

I hate that there’s no clear solution to our conundrum. Even if we could forgive each other, what then?

I hate you, Christian. I really do.

But most of all, I don’t.

It’s complicated.

Complicatedly (still) yours,

Ava
