Subject: You’re a flippin’ idiot

Good morning my dear, naive friend,

I hope you’re enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.

Why?

Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c'mon Jo, his ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.

He's the type of guy that only hears the word “no” when it's followed by “don’t stop.”

Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil…and before you say anything, I don’t care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn’t for sale.

Regretfully yours,
Lily

The Allure of Dean Harper is a full-length standalone romance with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be read separately. Chronologically, The Allure of Julian Lefray happens first.

4 ROAR stars

Lily is Josephine's best friend, who has just moved in New York and she is in desperate need of a job. Julian, Jo's boyfriend told her he would talk to his best friend, Dean Harper, one of the most known owner of restaurants to help her secure a job for now.

But things don't go as they were planned and their personalities seem to collide. They are both stubborn, opinioned while trying to take control from each other and the conflict is inevitable.

Somehow they will need to work together and even though Dean is a big ass to her, the chemistry between them is palpable and sooner or later they will either kill each other or connect in the sexiest possible way.

Dean and Lily were both characters that were introduced in the Allure of Julian Lefray. Best friends of the previous heroes, that had never met before. In this one they do and it's amazeballs.

For a big part of the book I was irritated with Dean's attitude. I had read the first book quite recently and I had a different picture for his character. I remember a flirty, fun guy, not the asshole he appeared to be in this one. I know he was a controled freak, but I didn't expect to see him acting like that, so it was something that bothered me. Don't get me wrong, he was still sexy, amazing and all that alpha male I love, but I just had a different picture for him and got surprised.

Lily was an amazing character. I loved her so much!! She was challenging him with every way possible, knowing that she was risking a lot, but still she would infuriate him and that was just so precious!

The way we fought, the way he infuriated me, the way he intrigued me. I couldn't decide where he fit in my mind's Venn diagram. On the left side, I had people I hated, and on the right I had people I loved. Right in the middle, in a category of his own making, there was Dean Harper.

Somehow, I feel underwhelmed by the book. Maybe because I had set my expectations really high. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, but I had some issues, like the transition from just 'enemies' with sex to people with feelings for each other, felt kind of sudden. (view spoiler)

I really love this author's writing and I will be definitely reading more by her. I recommend this book to those who like hate to love relationships and light, funny and sexy reads. You will laugh with their banter and you will get hot and bothered with their sexual tension.

This book is part of a series, but it can also be read as a standalone.

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things...everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things funny. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
